The Friends of Fordwich & District is a Civic Trust local amenity registered as a charity for the benefit of Fordwich and its environs. The society was formed from an amalgamation of two former societies, one raising money for the church and the other fighting the ever increasing traffic problems and unsuitable planning developments. The FOF&D work alongside Fordwich Town Council who carry out the town’s administration within the confines of local government.  Social events are organised to unite the community and also to raise money for Fordwich projects and other good causes relevant to the people of Fordwich.

Over the past few years the FOF&D has,  for example, organised Open Gardens, Garden Parties, Beating of the Bounds, Country Craft Fairs, Concerts, Lectures on local history, Children’s Halloween party, the Celebration of Carols in the Church and Carol singing around the village. In 2001 Fordwich achieved a ‘Highly Commended’ status in the Kent Village of the Year competition.  Over the years many local charities have been supported (Pilgrims Hospice, Life for Laura Appeal, K&C League of Friends, Fordwich Church fabric fund, Demelza House, Kent Kids and Footprints) together with national charities such as the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and the Churchs’ Conservation Trust.
